"An adequate life . . . might be described as a life which has grasped intuitively the nature of all things, and has seen and refocused itself to this whole. An inadequate life is one that lacks this adjustment to the whole nature of things—hence its twisted perspective, its partiality, its confusion." Douglas V. Steere, describing the life of Thomas R. Kelly, in A Testament of Devotion.

Yukon Ho!
I am boarding a plane for my homeland tomorrow because Mom and I are spending the weekend at the Kachemak Bay Writers' Conference. I am really excited about the conference, especially because Anne Lamott is the keynote speaker (she is one of my favorite writers, as you can see from the list of books I love). It will be fun to spend time with Mom too, and Homer is a great town. I doubt I will be posting much while I am there, but I will be sure to give a full report when I get back. I feel confident that all the writing tips will result in a vastly improved blog on my return!
Hi Ashley! I have been meaning to comment for a bit...I love this idea of your Quaker blog and it has been really inspiring and educational for me to read some of your postings. I look forward to hearing about this conference--we'll have to catch up sometime soon when you get back. -Kirsten
ReplyDeleteHi Kirsten,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you like the blog! I've been meaning to call you because I am still hoping to run in that very long race with you next month. I ran seven miles on the Homer Spit over the weekend, so I think I should be able to train in time, though I really need to get on it! I will try to give you a call in the next few days.
